Montauk Marine Basin Shark Tournament:
Day 1, we caught four Blue sharks up to 150 lbs. We also had a large fish tail-wrapped, it chafed the line, and broke free.
Day 2, we went to the 40-fathom point, 30 miles from Montauk Point, and caught one Mako, 179 lbs., and won second heaviest Mako for a cool $6K. We also caught and released two blue sharks up to 120 lbs. Hats off to Bob Wranovic, Mike and Jon Tuscano, Charlie Balducci, John Caiarco, and Super Mate Mark Dombrowski!

Star Island Shark Tournament - fished 2 days and caught several blue sharks up to 175 lbs. Bob Paradise crew, Greg Machaber and Barry Josten, always make an interesting and fun trip! There is nothing like a run-off with not enough time to get back to the weigh in! Special thanks to 1st mate, Mark D, for all the Mackerel snow cones...photos to follow.

It was more like a stormy day in October - cloudy, cool, with steady 15-20 mph wind, gusting to 25+, 5-7' seas against the tide, and bigger in the rips.
But Greg Machaber and Barry Josten safely jigged up over a dozen keeper bass in the 30 lbs range but one was 44lbs and another 42 lbs. Biggest ever seen in May! photos to follow...

The Brut Balacio group fished Block Island and caught 56 Blackfish to 8½ lbs. and one Cod.

The Herb Nixon group jigging bass at the Alaska rip -- limited out on 12 Bass to 25 lbs and some Bluefish. Blackfishing in Block Island sound limited out and caught 60 Blacks to the 9-lb class.

The Bob Barrett group jigging bass fishing at the North Rip produced 12 Bass to 25 lbs. and 50 more Blues; 30 Blackfish to 12 lbs. were caught at Block Island along with 8 nice Sea Bass.

Today the Capt. Mark sailed with Frank, Russ, Phil, Dan and Bob. We fished Blackfish first and caught a quick 30 fish to 10 lbs. We then attempted to fish the Point for Bass and were met with "White Water" Conditions. We managed one Bass and a couple of Blues before it was too rough to continue. An early day was called and it was music to one angler's ears who was a bit on the "Green" side, as they say ;)

The Eric Shubert group jigged the North Rip producing 12 bass to 30 lbs., some very large Bluefish; later, they banged 5 dozen Blackfish fishing off Rhode Island, to 9 lbs.

The Mike Mecir group jigged the North Rip and limited out on Bass to 28 lbs; Blackfishing at the wreck in Block Island produced about *60* Blacks to 12 lbs.!

Happy Halloween! Today the John Mullauy and Glenn Mullen group limited out on the Bass in the high teens in the north rip. Also, Blackfishing at Block Island was very good -- with 60 Blackies to 10 lbs.! Spoooooooky!

The Rob Altner group caught *52* blackfish to 12 lbs, and jigging around the Point produced 7 Bass and 3 Blues.

Today the Capt. Mark sailed with the Bill Vauricha group. Bass fishing was OK with 12 Bass to 18 lbs. We then went to Block Island Sound for some Blackfishing and found rather poor conditions with the water being muddy-brown. The boys still managed to catch 20 Blacks to 8 lbs along with several Sea Bass.

Bass Fishing jigging parachutes on the Elbow. 12 bass to 25 lbs and lots of bluefish. Checked out some wrecks in Block Island and found two schools of Sea Bass to 6 lbs, a dozen Blackfish to 7 lbs and one lone 6-lb Cod. Two dozen large porgies were also caught by the Andy Karabalos group.

John Tully, Gerry Dowling and Jim Smith caught 26 blackfish to 5 1/2 lbs at Gardner. Diamond jigging at the Elbow yielded 20 bass to 25 lbs and LOTS of bluefish -- we kept 6 nice bass!

While sharking, John, John Jr., Andrew and Damian hooked and lost an 800-lb Giant Bluefin Tuna! The hook fell out after a 25-min fight -- after that they landed 2 blue sharks, one of them around 250lbs.

AM Trip -- The Alan Kozlowski group fished with live bait and limited out with 12 bass up to 35lbs and some bluefish.
PM Trip -- The Malian Hawick group worked the north rip and caught 15 bass -- keeping 12 up to 32lbs -- and a bunch of bluefish.

Canyon Trip with Dr. Stan, Carmine, Nadar and friend trolled in 50 fathoms north of the Fishtails with 21 Albacore to 50lbs, 1 80-lb Yellowfin and an 80-lb Blue Marlin.
